Book Title: Glass Sword
Book Series: Red Queen book 2
Author: Victoria Aveyard
Date Published: February 2016
Summary: If there’s one thing Mare Barrow knows, it’s that she’s different.
Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.
The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.
Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors.
But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.
Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?
The electrifying next installment in the Red Queen series escalates the struggle between the growing rebel army and the blood-segregated world they’ve always known—and pits Mare against the darkness that has grown in her soul.
How do I say this… I liked the book —- sure. I even gave it a five out of five. However, I must admit, I was torn between giving it a 4 or a 5. The whole sh** that went down in this book — majority of them are quite depressing or painful to see. Well for one, I know they’re all fighting for a cause but do ALL of them fight for THE SAME cause or are they just using each other to accomplish their hidden agendas? That question has plagued me until the end of this book actually because well, everyone doubts everyone in this book. I don’t see a united front in Mare’s lineup. There’s so much pinpointing as well like COME ON guys? I got tired of that. It’s like someone did seven things right but no one gives a damn but if that same person messes even just once or at least others see it that way, then they’ll make a MAJOR fit about it. Like, come on! You all signed up for this! Don’t drag one out just cause you need someone to curse for how things went down? That was a major turnoff for me in this book and it casts doubts on me because yeah they seem united but truly they’re NOT. So the question still remains, who is using who? How real is this rebellion thing? It frustrates me because I have to wait for several months to get my hands on BOOK 3 and hope for the best that these whole sh** that I see is part of the story and not just a MAJOR flaw on the author or editor’s part that they’ve overseen! Hahaha I mean, how could you appreciate a team or in this case a rebel who is out on a major killing spree knowing in the end someone deceives someone again like in book 1? Like come on, don’t commit the same mistake twice? I mean, it’ll all be pointless if someone became so stubborn or careless enough again to do all those things in accomplishing what they thought was for their original cause but ending up being betrayed/deceived or lied upon by someone else again for their own merit or agenda. I hate that they’re being puppets. So stubborn on their end bro? It’s too amateurish for me. So you kill, you get betrayed, you do it again, then get betrayed again? That would be frustrating ey? There’s so much fighting and lies in book one and this book, I hope it all changes in book 3. I need to see that someone is checking if the facts are right! I need to see someone is stepping up and be smart enough to discern everyone’s motives and not just go with the flow then let’s see what happens then? What’s this, bunch of trigger happy people? Because, you act like pros, I wish you think like one too. Because seriously, I’m starting to doubt the Scarlet Guards, the Colonel, and well, Mare. Are they fighting the same cause at all? Of course, disregard Cal. He’s been upfront about where his loyalty stands in the first place and his motives.
And Mare and Cal… What are they actually? I’m confused. I mean… If they’re in love — well, that’s not love in there guys. The way they doubt each other, but at least they’re vocal about it? Haha So what are they? Can someone please explain? And please Mare, if you like Cal — get your acts right and stop this whole Maven thing!
And Mare… Mare mare mare… To good to be true. But hey don’t judge me. Sometimes she irritates me with her orders but can’t blame the girl. She has to do what she has to do. I think the results of her decisions, are all rational but I agree some may find it selfish or disturbing. But I guess, she just learned from their past mistakes.
The ending… UGH WHY! But I believe you JON, I believe you bro! I hope you clued us in real good about book 3. I hate what happened to *sensored* but I rejoice **sensored*’s fate though. Well, I must applaud Mare for that, really. You got that bitch to her rightful place girl. But yeah, what goes around comes around ey?
Well, book 3, The King’s Cage, will come out February 7th, 2017! Can’t wait!
