Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Date Published: August 2013
Genre: Sci Fi
Summary: Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.
After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.
All Katy can do is survive.
Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?
Together, they can face anything.
But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?
And will they even be together?
I probably didn’t like this book as much as I liked Onyx and Opal. But yeah, I still love it and I gave this book a 4 out of 5. Unlike the first 3 books which were basically named after stones — Obsidian (the nightmare of all Arums), Onyx (the nightmare of Arums and Luxens, the hybrids, and Origins), and Opal (the stone that makes your abilities 100x better and repels Onyx) — this book is named after a new kind of specie.
Origin. Yeah. Reminds me of Renesme from Twilight (haha) and seriously that’s all I’m going to say. Ugh men, I fear these Origins for reals! And truly, DOD needs them more than anything, if not the hybrids against their threat. I still honestly can’t tell if that threat is real but man what Ethan said to Daemon, and what the DOD said to Kat, I pieced them both together and somehow I’m beginning to believe that it’s true.
DEATH TOLL rose again. AGAIN! Would this ever stop?? And betrayals? I’M DONE with it! I can’t trust no one in this book honestly. They seem to have their own agenda and kind of throw someone under the bus when their lives were at risk. You’ll be shocked dude when you learn who that traitor/s is/are. And yeah Beth, what is going on with her? She’s so strange.
Well, the ending is on its height of red alert for Daemon and the rest. I am anticipating the next book to be an action filled finale. Ugh, seriously, I don’t know how things would end. More surprises eh? We’ll see.
