Book Title: Half Blood
Book Series: Covenant book 1
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Date Published: October 2011
Summary: The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals–well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.
Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem–staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is.
If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
Seriously, ever since the Lux Series, I have been an avid Jennifer L. Armentrout fan! This is the very reason why I chose to read her Covenant Series (even when I was ages behind of this whole hype thing). And just like in Lux Series, truly, Jennifer has yet again made a fantastic installment and I know that for a fact since I got that same feels (actually even better) I got from her Obsidian book and I know I would end up loving this whole series and maybe much more than I loved the Lux Series. What a good way to start a series!! I will truly recommend this to my friends. I ended up giving this a 4 out of 5.
Truly, Half Blood is a fun, enjoyable, and fast paced read!!! This fantasy world has yet again without a doubt is a work of a genius. Jennifer L. Armentrout’s BRAIN and IMAGINATION… COME ON?? Hail to the queen!!! The whole idea, concept, plot, and man — the characters and their personalities! And yes, the romantic part too — LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! Just like in Obsidian, the romantic part was just building up in this book. There are still obstacles or well technicalities that won’t permit that to happen YET for Aiden and Alex in this book but it’s quite there already! I AM TRULY HOPING BOOK 2 WOULD COVER AND SEAL THAT UP — just like what happened in Obsidian and Onyx 😀 Hehehe If it’s the same writer, sort of the same concept, then I STRONGLY believe the book 2 in Covenant Series would truly establish that romantic thing between Aiden and Alex (WELL I AM HOPING SO BADLY).
Well, it came sort of a surprise for me that a lot of questions in the beginning of this book have been answered immediately by the end of this book. I thought for once that those questions would somehow be the focal point of the whole series but they got answered right away and hell damn that’s good! It means, there’s more surprises, action, and or more to it than meets the eye. And like what I said, the whole world has been established in this book, so early on the series, which is great!! After reading this book, you will truly have a grasp and fall in love with this world.
